PEACE IN NATURE
I just did my favorite thing in the world. I took a walk in nature alone.
I do not know why this works so well for me, but it does. Two hours of me, birds, sometimes dolphins, sun and my own definition of God.
In this time alone I just am. There is no right or wrong there just is. I am free. Anything that comes up in my mind and frightens or bothers me I talk about with my own concept of God and magically it goes away or is put into some sort of perspective that I can accept and then put away until it needs to be dealt with.
I wish I could tell you that this is how I always am in my daily life and yes, sometimes I am. My head is not nearly as noisy as it used to be, but when I am at peace in or with nature, I feel as though I am in constant contact with a higher level of energy and therefore at peace.
I have read that humans (on average) have 60,000 thoughts per day. To achieve peace of mind, we need to reduce that number so that we have more pauses in between our thoughts. When I went for my walk this morning my thoughts slowed down – there was more space – I could be more me. I could just be.
I don’t even have the words to express how good (one vowel away from the word “God”) this makes me feel. It is exquisite. All I feel is joy and enthusiasm for life: something that gets covered or depressed when I am juggling my business and family events.
My hope is that someone will read this and take an hour or two out of their busy day and take a walk in nature to just be. If you do, let me know. I’d love to hear about your journey.
